London
(England) – The
spectacular wardrobe of Grace Kelly will be on display
at the Victoria & Albert museum in London from April 17th – September
26th 2010. Tracing the evolution of her style from her days as one of
Hollywood’s most popular actresses in the 1950s and as Princess Grace of
Monaco, the display will present over 50 of Grace Kelly's outfits
together with hats, jewelry and the original Hermès Kelly bag.
Dresses from her films, including "High Society" (1956) and "Rear
Window" (1954), will be on show as well as the gown she wore to accept
her Oscar award in 1955 for "The Country Girl." These will be
accompanied by film clips and posters, family photographs and her Oscar
statuette. The display will also include the lace ensemble worn by Grace
Kelly for her civil marriage ceremony to Prince Rainier in 1956 and 35
haute couture gowns from the 1960s and 70s by her favorite couturiers
Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy, and Yves St Laurent.
Alicante
(Spain) – Celebrated by
the Spanish government for his shoe fame, Stuart Weitzman
has been honored with his own country postage stamp. The stamp bears his
name and is emblazoned with his memorable Hollywood red carpet creation
- the first "Million Dollar Shoe" - and set in platinum on a platinum
mesh frame.
Weitzman received the prestigious honor in the Spanish city of Elda
during the 50th anniversary of the internationalization of the Spanish
shoe industry. Elda is often referred to as Spain's shoe making capital,
and is where Weitzman's factories have been located for the past 37
years.
