Paris
(France) – British rock
and roll designer John Richmond celebrated the opening of his new Paris
store early October with his 16 year-old daughter Phoenix as guest of
honor. For the occasion she wore a black corset and red tulle tutu from
her father's latest collection shown in Milan.
John Richmond has worked in collaboration with French architect
Christophe Pillet for the design of this boutique, which is located in
Paris most fashionable street, Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Divided into two floors, the locale displays both the men and womenswear
collections: clothing, shoes and accessories, in a high-tech setting
which includes unique details such as black smoked glass plates and
chrome steel hangers.
This opening is part of a strategic plan for market expansion organized
by Italian entrepreneur Saverio Moschillo who runs the brand together
with the designer himself. There are other John Richmond boutiques in
Milan, Capri, Porto Cervo and Kiev.
John Richmond was born in Manchester in 1960, and later moved to London.
He graduated in fashion design from Kingston University in 1982, and
soon after created his own collection while collaborating with such
brands as Emporio Armani and Fiorucci.
Since 1987, Richmond has worked under his own name producing two lines:
John Richmond, and the diffusion line, Richmond, containing both a
prêt-à-porter and denim range.
His close ties with the rock music fashion industry have led him to
dress stars such as Madonna, Mick Jagger, and Annie Lennox.
Milan
(Italy) – On September 24,
2009, during the "Tribute to Fashion" charity event, which opened Milan
Fashion Week, eight renowned Italian brands (Alberta Ferretti, Missoni,
Blumarine, and Moschino, among others) were asked to dress one of the
best-known container designs on earth: that of the Coca-Cola Light
Contour bottle.
"My interpretation of the Contour bottle features all of Moschino's
iconic elements: the flamenco dancer, the bow, the fluffy clouds in the
blue sky, and the Contour – instead of the bag - dipped in chocolate,"
commented Creative Director Rossella Jardini.
The four bottles dressed by each of the participating designers were
shown on the catwalk in the wonderful framework of the Court Yard of
Palazzo Reale and later auctioned off by Sotheby's.
Proceeds from the
auction will be donated to the "Municipality of Milan for the Abruzzo
Region" project that aims to kick-start the local economy after last
April's earthquake focusing on employment for women in the area.
