What does the creation of the Association of Spanish Fashion Creators mean to Roberto Verino? Basically it is a greatly stimulating to think of what the union of ten great Spanish designers can accomplish. This should enable us to generate new energy, a new dynamism and motivation to counter this impasse in which Spanish fashion seems to have fallen in recent times. This should consolidate all the projects concerning the creation of an international image for Spanish fashion as well as those relative to its promotion at an international level. Doesn't the fact that these fashion shows for the end of 1999 have been divided in two present a handicap for the international projection of Spanish fashion? Ideally we should have done the presentations together, but it has not been possible. This might penalize the Spanish shows. I hope that, in our case, the expectations created around our shows will soften the possible mistakes we make. Or, even, that we might become a new stimulus because we intend to give an example of how a fashion show with international projection should be set up. From your point of view what are the three first things that should be addressed in order for everything to start with a good foot? I believe, in fact, that we have started well. We are brimming with good intentions and are strongly willing to analyze the reality of the fashion business in our country. We want to discover and understand the problems we have before us and address them. Undoubtedly there is still a lot to do. Maybe the first thing is to be
aware that this analysis requires a rigorous and very critical look at ourselves, and with
that I can already feel satisfied. |
