You did not show this time at the Cibeles catwalk. When are you going to present your autumn/winter collection?

I will present my new collection on the 16th of March at the Vinçon store in Madrid. Attendance to the show will be limited only to certain members of the press because the venue is quite small.

Why is Angel Schlesser among the founding members of this new Association of designers?

I believe that I, as well as all the other members, are facing the same challenge: to make Spanish fashion more known internationally. This is why we have united, not as companies but within this Association, to exchange ideas, know-how, and back one another in certain actions. This, I hope, will consolidate Spanish fashion in foreign markets.

What, do you believe, is Spanish fashion lacking now which it will need to better face these immediate challenges?

There are many things lacking: tradition, history, know-how, industry, marketing, knowledge of the different markets...

Do you believe mid-March is a good time to present your next collections?

This move was something that had been meditated but not organized. I would have preferred to have more time because the six months calendar is usually quite short as of itself. But I believe that we have done what we should.

In what way can the 'double presentation' of Spanish fashion adversely affect the impact of the shows, when the US, on the other hand, has united its shows this time to achieve a greater impact?

I don't think this double presentation is advantageous in any way. The thing is that, this time, it had to be done this way.

Do you believe that in the future this Association will have, such as is the case in the United States, a group of designers that will be the decision makers and the rest will follow their lead?

There are always companies that sell more, that interest more. But if what we are talking is about creating a global image of Spanish fashion, the fact that there are one or fifteen in the forefront will only be good for those that are not because they will benefit from that. This is surely the case with the Made in Italy seal under which many crappy and junk labels take cover and also sell.
