Why didn't you present your autumn/winter 1999-2000 collection within Cibeles? Not being in Cibeles was not the Association’s decision but my own. Since a few seasons ago I do not like the direction Cibeles has taken. The existing lack of criterion has provoked a lack of interest among the press and the buyers. Last June we communicated our worries to the organizing committee. Not only did they not seem to understand them, they did not even pay attention. We need to stop and refine the Cibeles Fashion Shows in order to create a project with defined ends and objectives that can fulfill the Spanish textile industry's needs. I believe that the current Fashion Committee should be composed not only of journalists, but of other professionals such as experts in communication, representatives of the textile industry, artists, etc. What, in your opinion, is the immediate intention of your Association with respect to the Spanish Fashion Shows? We are not pretending to win a war. What we want is for the good of Spanish fashion, ours and that of those that follow. Regarding Cibeles what we propose is to create a new Fashion Week without pretending to go against anybody. When will Devota & Lomba present their new autumn/winter collection? We will do so on the 17th of March in Madrid, between the shows in Milan and Paris. February is too early to present our collections because sometimes we have not yet received certain fabrics.There are rumors around saying that you have not shown in Cibeles because of lack of money... Devota & Lomba does
not have a superb financial backing such as in the case with some of my other colleagues,
but to present my collection outside Cibeles will cost me five times more than usual.
