Helena Rohner, a designer whose jewelry has been chosen for movies such
as "All About My Mother," Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar's
latest film, has created a new collection of jewelry and objects which
feature the oval form and the subtle softness of round shapes. For this autumn/winter 1999 - 2000 season, Rohner has designed
necklaces, rings and earrings, turned on a lathe in wood from the Cuban cocobolo tree, held by fine
chains and delicate mountings. Other pieces, also round but flat, include color and precious stones.
Rare gems such as the Australian rhodochrosite and fine chrysoprase are
mixed with white mother-of-pearl and gray abalone. A line of jewelry
somewhat reminiscent of the "futurist" 1920's. Rohner also presents a group of rounded profile bowls for the home done
in Spanish walnut. Her designs can be found in several cities around the world including
New York (Barneys), Hong Kong (Joyce), Florence (Le Stanze), London
(Harvey Nichols), Madrid (El Arco) and Barcelona (Efectos Especiales). |
