Mugler Opens First Spain Store
in Barcelona

Barcelona (Spain) - Coinciding with the Catalan capital’s fashion week, Moda Barcelona, Thierry Mugler inaugurated his first freestanding Spanish store, a two-level unit on Avenida Diagonal, an international brand-heavy shopping street.

With 250 sq. meters selling space, the new locale features Mugler’s signature ice-blue decor with puffed silver leather display cases, smoked glass, black velvet armchairs and black granite flooring. First floor product mix includes handbags, shoes, 'Angel' fragrances and menswear and upstairs, jewelry, the Thierry Mugler and Mugler ready-to-wear and evening lines.

No sales predictions were available but at an opening night party, Mugler said he plans additional stores in Madrid, Bilbao and Marbella.

La Coruña (Spain) – Super-trendy Spanish retailer Zara opened its first German store in Cologne September 10 as part of a year-old joint venture between parent company Inditex and Otto Versand Trading Group. The new 1,800-sq.-meter unit will feature apparel and accessories for women, men and children on 3 floors.

Called Zara Deutschland, the venture will launch officially mid-November in Hamburg where the company plans to establish a flagship store and headquarters, said a spokesman for the La Coruña-based Zara. The brand is distributed through 366 stores in 19 countries.

In addition, Zara Deutschland will open 3 stores in Munich, Stuttgart and Nuremberg early next year. Top of page
