New York New York's Spring 2000 Fashion Week, which is scheduled for September 12th - September 18th, and will take place, as always, in this city's Bryant Park, is adding a new venue. 7th On Sixth, the event organizers, have just announced it will be the newly restored Landmark, The Altman Building. Located in the heart of Chelsea (135
West 18th Street) the building is a white loft-like environment unencumbered by columns
and boasting 17-foot high (aprox. 5 meters) vaulted brick ceilings in what was formerly a
commercial structure. The ground floor show space offers a 10,000 square foot (3,300
square meter) space accessed through a 125 ft. (40 meter) mahogany and glass facade. The
Altman Building has been equipped with state of the art lighting and sound equipment, as
well as a large, separate backstage area. It accommodates 440 guests, including 70 media
as well as 120 standing. |
