Sam Villa creates the hairstyle for Margie Tsai

Sam: When Margie Tsai showed us her collection, we noticed there was very 19th century meets 21st century type of feeling to it. What Margie was looking for was more of an Elizabethan or Victorian look to accompany her designs. So what we decided to do was create [a type of hairstyle such as you would see] if you were sitting down at a

European royal court, but yet with the hair having more of an ultra-modern edge to it.

Therefore, we decided to create what we've labeled as a "Mock-Bob".

We start by creating a braid underneath (at the nape), which we will secure the bob

and then spritz lightweight hairspray all over to hold the look.

Then, with the help of a curling iron, we wave the top to get that more Victorian feel to it.

The idea is to create a sort of cocoon, so that when you see it, it looks like a bob but yet it has waves sitting on top of it.

As you can see, there is a lot of contrast in Margie Tsai's designs -very hard and soft or kind of smooth and rough- so the idea was to create something that had a little bit more of a harder edge to it, but then something that had some of a rougher, wavier feel on top of it. Tope de página
