James Kaliardos creates the makeup for Jill Stuart

James Kaliardos: I wanted the models to look natural, the way they do. I've tried to keep the personality of each one by not putting too much makeup on and not covering them up, but rather bringing out the best of them.

As you can see, it's a very simple no-makeup look, where we have a little bit
of a strong, furry brow to open up the eye

area, and a glossed eyelid and a clear glossed mouth for a natural, soft lip effect.

I've left the skin natural, fresh. I haven't applied any blush, just lightly dusted loose translucent powder all over the face.

Fashionclick: So you haven't used any color at all.

James Kaliardos: No color, it's a neutral face.

Fashionclick: A lot of the designers have gone for a toned-down makeup look. Would you consider it a trend or are they just playing it safe?

James Kaliardos: Well, this show isn't that safe, actually. Jill Stuart's clothes for this winter are very strong, so that's why we decided on doing something that would bring out the character and personality of the girls, instead of seeing a whole [makeup] trend sort of stuck on top of them. Right now, it's all about individuality on the runway, and that's why this time we are showing something more natural and not getting into gimmicks or ideas such as, for example, blue eye shadow. Tope de página

Guido Palau hairstylist for Jill Stuart

Guido:
The idea behind this look is basically very simple, natural hair, like if the girls had done it themselves. I've added some bangs softly falling over the face to give the hair a somewhat unkempt look. Tope de página

Internationally renown makeup artist James Kaliardos is, also, one of the founders of the prestigious magazine "Visionaire." He has worked for Madonna and Lenny Kravitz and his makeup jobs can usually be found in Allure and Vogue. Well-known for his deconstructed styles inspired on London's street youth,
Guido Palau is part of fashion's so-called 'Brit Pack', a group who had a lot of influence in the early '90s and that includes Kate Moss amongst its members. Guido has worked for Fendi, Gucci, Versace and Calvin Klein.
