Describe to us your spring/summer 2000 collection. It shows the light and nature of my country: fresh, spring-like, but never too sweet; with a certain touch of drama or fantasy, because fashion must never abandon the surprise effect. It is a very feminine collection, full of soft colors such a lilac, very tender greens, pink and white. The inspiration comes from my way of understanding nature, our maximum expression of creativity; the flora in our Venezuelan jungles, specifically orchids that are unique in the world, with animal-like shapes in unusual colors. I have given these colors freshness with the materials I used for the embroidery: modern plastics, acetates - to lend them a neutral, transparent and crystalline shine-, and linen for evening. I present a lot of separates, which any woman can combine according to her taste, because I understand that the style of today's international woman is very relaxed. And

discotheques... I have been preparing for the year 2000 for a long time, observing the changes in the lifestyles of women and adapting to their needs. Women will continue wanting to look beautiful, but within an evolving aesthetic. I do not want to remain in a specific aesthetic perception, but rather advance. I am not a nostalgic designer, but neither am I avant-garde. I want to be contemporary. Your immediate projects? To work internationally realizing that I must face strong competition. My challenge is to continue in this competitive world of fashion and show, through my collections, that I left my country because I had something to say. I have the intention of demonstrating that I can succeed in other countries. NOTE: Angel Sánchez currently sells in the United States (Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, among others), as well as in Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Canada, Panama, England and, of course, Venezuela. |
